Therapeutic Bodywork

Explore our range of therapeutic bodywork services designed to promote healing and overall wellness

Holistic Healing

Targeted, skilled bodywork to reduce pain, restore mobility, and improve performance.

At West Michigan Neuro & Functional Rehabilitation, our bodywork sessions are tailored to your specific needs — whether you're recovering from injury, managing chronic pain or tension, or seeking support for stress-related physical symptoms. Every session blends evidence-informed techniques with a calm, focused environment to help your body move better and feel more at ease.

These techniques are also popular among athletes looking to prevent injury, recover faster, and improve mobility.

Conditions We Commonly Treat

  • Chronic pain (neck, back, shoulder, hip)
  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • Tendinopathies (e.g., tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, patellar tendinopathy)
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Sciatica or nerve entrapment symptoms
  • Shoulder impingement or rotator cuff-related pain
  • Postural imbalances and movement asymmetry
  • Limited range of motion / joint stiffness
  • Acute muscle strain recovery
  • Thoracic outlet syndrome
  • Headaches related to muscular tension
  • TMJ-related muscle dysfunction
  • Post-surgical or post-immobilization tightness
  • Stress-related muscular tension
  • Athletic performance limitations / recovery needs

Techniques We Use

Your bodywork session is based on an initial assessment and collaborative conversation -- tailored to your condition, preferences, and recovery goals.

IASTM (Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)

Targeting myofascial restrictions, adhesions, and scar tissue, IASTM uses specialized tools to stimulate blood flow, break up adhesions, and reset tissue tone — ideal for both acute and chronic conditions.

Assisted Stretching & PNF Techniques

Includes contract-relax, pin and stretch, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) to improve joint range of motion, relieve tightness, and rebalance muscular tension. Helps restore proper length–tension relationships in overused or inhibited muscle groups.

Trigger Point Release

Focused pressure and movement to release hyperirritable nodules in tight tissue and improve regional mobility. Especially effective for headaches, upper trap pain, gluteal pain, IT band tension, and deep postural muscles.

Myofascial Release Techniques

Slow, sustained manual techniques designed to reduce fascial tension and improve mobility across multi-joint regions. Used to treat chronic holding patterns, postural strain, and functional movement impairments.

Nervous System Regulation & Breathwork

We incorporate vagus nerve-stimulating breathwork, diaphragmatic breathing, and parasympathetic reset techniques to downregulate the nervous system, improve tolerance to stress, and reduce pain sensitivity.

Cupping Therapy

Dry cupping can be used to decompress soft tissue, increase circulation, reduce local restrictions, and promote recovery, often paired with active movement for deeper release.

Electrical Stimulation (E-Stim)

Used to reduce pain, improve circulation, and activate weakened muscles. Can be applied to support neuromuscular re-education, reduce inflammation, or relieve muscle spasms — especially helpful following injury or immobilization.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Delivers deep tissue heating to help soften scar tissue, improve tissue extensibility, and support healing in tendons, ligaments, and fascia. Often used as a prep technique before stretching or mobilization.
